Meet Brian C. Gregory
Brian C. Gregory is an Assistant Professor of Mass Communication. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Gregory’s research interests include radio production and history, sound studies, and technologies in education and society. His forthcoming book, Listening, Sound, and the Battle for an Educated Democracy in 20th Century America, to be published by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Press in February 2027, draws together a range of sources from music education, advertising, commercial and local radio, English, and Speech to detail the evolution of listening and sound as tools to foster educated democratic citizens.
With extensive experience in sound, multimedia, and instructional technologies, Dr. Gregory is passionate about utilizing media to promote active learning and differentiated instruction. He also has over 20 years of experience as an audio and video engineer, and producer in the music and film industries in NYC.
