York College of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce that Greg Foy, Ph.D has been appointed Executive Director of the Analytical Center of Excellence at Knowledge Park. It is a new initiative designed to strengthen collaboration between the College, industry, and the broader York community.

Foy began working on the project this fall and will continue in that role through the spring. He will transition to the position full time in the summer of 2026.

Foy is leading efforts to develop partnerships with local companies that have a chemistry-related focus, helping shape the mission of the Analytical Center of Excellence. He is also working closely with architects and builders on the design and construction of the lab, which is expected to open by the end of 2026.

“This is an amazing opportunity to leverage all of the relationships that I have developed over my career,” Foy said. “This new role allows me to focus on how the College can work with local companies to expand and elevate the chemical enterprise in our community. It is an incredible opportunity to take what I have worked on during my 30-year career at YCP and develop the next level of engagement with the chemistry community.”

He will remain a member of York College’s Chemistry Department and will teach special topics courses as needed.

Foy established the Chemistry Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) more than 25 years ago. Through his work with CIAC, he now has strong pipelines between students and industries. The Analytical Center of Excellence aims to build on that work, expanding its focus on applied research, analytical services, and workforce development.

“Greg brings an unparalleled combination of academic expertise, industry relationships, and vision to this role,” said Jeff Vermeulen, President’s Chief of Staff and Vice President for Community Engagement, who oversees Knowledge Park. “The Analytical Center of Excellence represents exactly what Knowledge Park is meant to foster: meaningful collaboration that benefits our students, supports regional industry, and strengthens York College’s role as a community partner.”

Looking ahead, Foy’s vision is ambitious and student-centered.

“My primary goal is to establish a world-class analytical facility that serves the College, local industry, and the York community,” he said. “In the next five years, I hope to develop a facility that is highly responsive to industry needs, where York College students are intimately involved in solving complex and cutting-edge issues facing the scientific community.”

Foy also emphasized that the initiative would not be possible without strong external partnerships.

“I am extremely proud of the core relationships with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, Adhesives Research Inc., MRG Laboratories, Platte Research, Eurofins, York Water Company, and The Huber Foundation,” he said. “Without these relationships, this amazing opportunity would not be possible.”

The Analytical Center of Excellence is a key component of York College’s continued investment in Knowledge Park and its mission to connect education, innovation, and community engagement.
