Secondary Education Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

The Post-Baccalaureate Secondary Education (7-12) certificate program provides students the opportunity to prepare for a career in content area teaching at the middle school or high school level. Students in the program learn the content and pedagogical knowledge required to become transformative classroom teachers and to support their future students’ academic achievement. Specialized content courses help students develop knowledge and skills in their chosen fields of Biology, English, General Science, Mathematics, or Social Studies, while Education courses help students learn the instructional techniques, assessment methods, and technological knowledge to succeed in today’s dynamic classrooms.
Post-baccalaureate certification programs are designed for students who have already completed a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university and wish to become eligible to obtain a teaching certification in the state of Pennsylvania. Because these students have previously completed an undergraduate degree program, each candidate’s application is individually evaluated to determine the coursework necessary to complete their teaching certification program.
