The Studio Art minor offers Graphic Design and Digital Art and Artificial Intelligence majors hands-on exploration of traditional and contemporary art  practices that complement digital design skills. Through courses in drawing,  painting, sculpture, illustration, printmaking, and more, students deepen their  understanding of visual principles, develop craftsmanship, and refine their  creative process. This minor emphasizes experimentation with various mediums  and techniques, fostering a well-rounded artistic foundation. By blending fine art  practices with graphic design and digital art, students enhance their ability to  think critically, work conceptually, and create innovative, multidisciplinary design  solutions. This minor is ideal for students looking to expand their creative skill  set, explore new artistic avenues, and apply fine arts knowledge to professional design contexts. Note: Fine Art majors may NOT minor in Studio Art, Graphic Design and Digital Art & AI majors only.

Art History Minor

Because art’s foremost concern is the human condition, the art history minor is an excellent area of study for individuals in a vast range of disciplines including the Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and even Business. In the Art History Minor program, students will encounter diverse cultural histories and heritage, learn how ideas and values are visually communicated, and hone their visual literacy and communication skills. The Minor in Fine Art provides students the opportunity to pursue creativity through visual mediums, practice hands-on creative crafts, and build skill sets necessary for visual expression. Students pursuing the Minor in Fine Art may select from a number of art mediums and electives that suit their preferences, in order to find effective connections between artistic practice and other academic, research and professional pursuits. The Fine Art minor is especially appropriate for students majoring in theatre, anthropology, education, psychology, history, foreign language, advertising, marketing, writing, and majors in the business and hospitality industries, as well as in other areas.

Visual Communication Minor

The minor in Visual Communication provides students with an opportunity to learn how to use imagery, typography, and technology to better understand the role of graphic design in many disciplines. From practical hands-on studio work to critical discussion, the minor in Visual Communication provides valuable skills that are beneficial to all majors.
