Meet Alexander Hernandez-Siegel

Alex Hernández-Siegel serves as Director of the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of Spiritual Life at York College of Pennsylvania. He is responsible for directing support programs and advising for students of color, LGBTQ+ community and religious life at the College, as well as DEI institutional change initiatives. 

He has worked in higher education, primarily in student services for several years. He held a similar DEI role at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota before arriving at YCP. Prior to his appointment in Minnesota, he was the Chaplain and Associate Dean of Students at Colorado College, where he led spiritual life and student services support programs for undergraduates. He also served in the administration at Harvard University for seven years as one of the chaplains for the University, Director of Academic and Diversity Programs for Genomics Training at Harvard Medical School, and with Professor Diana Eck’s Pluralism Project at Harvard, which conducts research and programs regarding cultural and religious diversity in the United States. At Dartmouth College, he was the Assistant Dean of Student Life and Advisor to Latino/Latina students. 

Raised in New York City and Lancaster, Hernández-Siegel is a graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Cultural Anthropology. He earned a master’s degree in Cultural Studies at Dartmouth College and a Master of Education degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
