Claire-Chung Lim, D.M.A

Dr. Claire-Chung Lim is a pianist and educator whose career encompasses solo, chamber, and collaborative performance. Originally from South Korea, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, the Kennedy Center, Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, and other major venues throughout the United States and abroad. Her competition honors include First Prize at the Brahms Piano Competition and Third Prizes at the Sion International Duo Competition and the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition.

Dr. Lim earned her undergraduate degree from Seoul National University, graduating summa cum laude, and holds two master’s degrees from the New England Conservatory and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from Boston University, graduating with honors from both institutions. She has taught piano and collaborative piano at the New England Conservatory, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, working with students across a wide range of ages, levels, and musical backgrounds. Her teaching focuses on developing strong pianistic technique, musical independence, thoughtful interpretation, and a confident artistic voice.
