“Power of Collaboration” Exhibit Highlights Innovation and Collective Creativity at YCP

The York College of Pennsylvania community is invited to explore the power of teamwork and creative synergy at the Power of Collaboration exhibit, now on display at the GCCI Gallery through May 9.
The collection , housed on the first and second floors of the Diehl House, is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members during regular college hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Curated by student staff of the Graham Center for Collaborative Innovation (GCCI) under the mentorship of Dr. Jessica Sponsler, the exhibit features 14 diverse pieces that illustrate the many ways in which collaboration fosters creativity and innovation. Contributions span a wide array of disciplines, from fine arts and music to engineering and environmental science, demonstrating the breadth of talent and ingenuity within the YCP community.
"We are excited to showcase the diversity of collaborative work created by faculty and students across the YCP community," said Dr. Tamara Sniad, Executive Director of the GCCI. "This exhibit gives members of our college the opportunity to appreciate the breadth of talent that we have on our campus and learn about less familiar disciplines or areas of study. It also provides current and potential external partners a glimpse of what YCP has to offer."
The exhibit was created to highlight the expertise and work across the college, encouraging connections and inspiring collaboration across disciplines. While the Diehl House galleries were originally designed as meeting and gathering spaces, they have been reimagined as a venue for themed exhibitions that showcase the diverse talents and research within our community. Working with Dr. Sponsler and the GCCI staff, the student team behind the exhibit curated submissions, selected pieces, and installed the showcase—offering visitors the opportunity to discover new ideas and potential collaborators.
Featured works include Jennifer Pomeroy’s geographic analysis of lead contamination in York City, a project born out of collaboration between students in an introductory Geographic Information Systems class and the Center for Community Engagement.

Another standout piece, KCK Power: A Thermodynamics Approach to Power Plant Design by Kirsten Nelson, showcases an engineering project developed through teamwork in a mechanical engineering course. The exhibit also includes fine arts contributions like Ethereal Echoes: The Beauty Within, a mixed-media series by Melanie de Groot that explores the interplay of different artistic techniques to convey emotion and heritage.
With its blend of artistic expression, scientific inquiry, and technical innovation, the Power of Collaboration Showcase is a testament to the transformative impact of working together.
The GCCI invites all members of the YCP community and external partners to visit the exhibit and experience firsthand how collaboration fuels creativity and problem-solving across disciplines.
