YCP Landmark Gets a Major Makeover With Bigger, Bolder Letters

There’s something new to smile about on campus—York College’s beloved YCP letters just got a major upgrade!
The iconic letters have officially been replaced with bigger, sturdier versions that are ready for their photo-op moment. The new ones are 7 feet tall, a foot deep, and made of stainless steel coated in a sleek, automotive-grade exterior paint for long-lasting shine. The best part? They’re built to handle whatever the weather—and student selfies—throw at them.
Vice President of Operations Kevin Feil, who led the project, said the idea took shape last fall. “I started looking at the older letters and noticed they were beginning to wear,” said Feil. “We needed something more prominent, more durable—something that matched the strength of our community and our pride in YCP.”
Students can already see the new letters on Main Campus, and a second set is expected to be installed on West Campus in May.
Feil added, “These letters have become a symbol of York College. They’re a point of pride for students, alumni, and visitors, and now they’ll last for many more years to come.”
Students are loving the new look.

“I feel like it is good. It keeps up with the rebranding image of York College of Pennsylvania,” said Prabh Kandola, a sophomore mechanical engineering major. “The letters, YCP, are so iconic that we don’t even refer to it as its full name… I think it’s great.”
Junior fine arts major Rayann Gotwalt agrees. “I think they’re pretty cool. It’s livening up the campus, and I think it’s going to be a new addition to the tradition of YCP.”
With a refreshed look and a stronger build, the new YCP letters are already making a big impression.
