Rebecca Morgan graduated in May 2022 with a B.S. in Supply Chain Operations Management. She currently works as a Vendor Analyst for Clark Associates in Lancaster, PA.

What made you choose to pursue a degree in this field?

During college I was set on working for a manufacturer, but after I visited Clark Associates I was drawn to the company culture and realized that I might enjoy purchasing more than I thought.

Describe a typical day on the job.

As a Vendor Analyst, I provide market analyses to inform strategic buying decisions. Tasks include demand forecasting, strategic inventory management, and reporting on pricing, costs, and gross profit. My responsibilities include strategic demand planning and forecasting, formulating and implementing stocking strategies, evaluating vendors based on ability to meet product demand and shipping efficiency standards, analyzing and problem-solving inbound logistics, transportation, brokerage, and distribution activities worldwide, mining data using Microsoft Power BI and our proprietary inventory management system, market research to set product pricing, and generating creative ideas for process improvement.

How have you used your York College education since graduating?

I’ve used it for inventory management and Excel training. Also, all of my Supply Chain courses laid the groundwork for what I currently do at my job.

What is most challenging about a career in this field?

Understanding the impact that the small decisions you make have on your company.

What advice would you have for a student who is just starting out in this major?

Take action and don’t be afraid to make the wrong decision! Get an internship during school to help you decide if you like this field. Put time and effort into your studies and learn the material, because it will pay off in the end.
