York College of PA Nursing faculty member receives award from National Association of Neonatal Nurses

September 23, 2022

Jenna Davis of York, an Assistant Professor of Nursing at York College’s Dr. Donald E. and Lois J. Myers School of Nursing and Health Professions and a Neonatal Intensive Care Registered Nurse at WellSpan York Hospital, has earned the Robyn Main Excellence in Clinical Practice Award from the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN). The Award is given in honor of Robyn Main, MSN, RNC, to encourage and recognize neonatal nurses who provide exemplary direct patient care. Davis will receive complimentary conference registration and travel to NANN’S Annual Conference in Las Vegas in September, in addition to receiving a travel stipend and honorarium, and a trophy at the Conference.

"We are very excited that Dr. Davis has received this national honor that demonstrates her commitment to the health of our community and to nursing education, which are both central to the mission of York College and The Stabler Department of Nursing," said Stacy Lutter, chair of the Department.

Davis joined York College’s faculty on Aug. 1, 2022; she is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She previously taught at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and Harrisburg Area Community College. As a nurse, she served as a Neonatal Intensive Care Registered Nurse, as a Nurse Professional Development Specialist, and as a Post-Surgical Registered Nurse at UPMC Pinnacle in Harrisburg.

Her application for the Award indicated that she is a “proficient RN and adjunct faculty member, in addition to being a board member of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of NANN. Jenna has been described as an exemplary role model by her fellow nursing professionals. Jenna exhibits expert communication skills, practices a model of family-centered care, and keeps meticulous attention to detail in daily practice. Jenna is committed to educating future nurses as an adjunct nursing instructor and is active in her Level III neonatal intensive care unit at WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania. Jenna has her Doctor of Philosophy degree in nursing with an education focus and is a published author in the Dimensions of Critical care journal. Jenna inspires all nurses to make a difference at the bedside and beyond.”

Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Nursing from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

"I am so very thankful and humbled to be recognized by NANN at this year's conference,” David said. “Practicing as a NICU nurse for 10 years has solidified my love for the tiniest of patients and their families and my dedication to the profession. As I return to academia, I am thrilled to have joined such a prestigious and dedicated group of Nursing faculty here at YCP."
