York College of Pennsylvania Welcomes Largest Incoming Class in Five Years

York College of Pennsylvania is proud to welcome the Class of 2029, the largest incoming class in the last five years.
With more than 850 first-year students and approximately 150 transfer students expected to arrive this fall, the group represents a strong commitment to academic excellence and York College’s growing reputation as a destination for higher education.
This year’s first-year class showcases impressive academic strength, with an average GPA of 3.4 and more than 20 percent of students earning a 4.0 or higher. Forty-one percent of the incoming students are first-generation college students, reflecting the College’s commitment to expanding access and opportunity.
The class also brings a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. Nearly one-third of the students are from outside Pennsylvania. In fact, the Class of 2029 represents 26 different states, with notable enrollment from Washington, Texas, Hawaii, Colorado, Vermont, and Tennessee.
“These students chose York College because they see the value of a high-quality, affordable education that prepares them for real-world success,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Brian Hazlett. “We are especially excited to see how our efforts with direct admissions through the Common App and Niche have opened doors for students from across the country, helping us build one of the most academically talented and geographically diverse classes in recent memory.”
The increase in commitments marks the strongest enrollment momentum since 2020, underscoring York College’s ability to attract students seeking both excellence in academics and affordability in higher education.
As these students begin their college journey, York College’s state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated faculty, and hands-on learning opportunities will provide the foundation for their success both on campus and beyond.
