Zifferer Earns Induction into National Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame

York College wrestling supporter and former board of trustee member Morton Zifferer has been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Men’s Hall of Fame Class of 2025 for his contributions to the sport.
Through his philanthropy and mentorship, Zifferer has been a vital figure in York’s wrestling program for decades. His contributions helped build a dedicated wrestling room within the athletics facility, and his continued annual gifts have elevated the student-athletic experience.
Zifferer has also aided Spartan student-athletes with their professional development by offering assistance with internships, job placements, and overall career guidance.
One of Zifferer’s signature contributions to the wrestling program has been his hands-on involvement with the New Standard Corporation Invitational over the past 15 years. His leadership has made this event one of the premiere mid-season wrestling tournaments in Division III, as it consistently draws the best teams from the country's Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast regions.
A York-based business leader and philanthropist, Zifferer is the owner and Chairman of New Standard Corporation, a precision metal stamping, fabrication, and assembly specialist with two locations in Pennsylvania and one in North Carolina.
A New York Military Academy and Stonehill College graduate, Zifferer majored in marketing and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In 1970, he began his career with New Standard in sales and spent several years involved in varied operational
responsibilities within the organization, was appointed President in 1984, and acquired company ownership in 1988.
Zifferer has been actively involved in the York community for forty years. He has served on the boards of the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, the York County Chamber of Commerce, the Agricultural and Industrial Museum of York, York College of Pennsylvania, York Country Day School, Penn-Mar Human Services, the Cultural Alliance of York County, and others.
Zifferer and his fellow Hall of Fame inductees will be honored by the NWCA at the Honors Banquet on Friday, August 1, at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He is the fourth inductee from York College to go into the NWCA Division III Men’s Hall of
Fame as he joins former coaches Rich Achtzehn (Class of 2008) and Tom Kessler (Class of 2013), in addition to national champion wrestler and current Spartan head coach Duane Bastress (Class of 2013).
