Community Programs

Fueling for Success is a partnership program between York College’s Athletics Department and the Center for Community Engagement that helps student athletes reach their goals through hands-on nutrition training. At the sessions, students learn how to prepare healthy, affordable meals that fuel their performance on and off the field. By the end of the program, participants leave with a plan to regularly prepare meals that help them thrive as athletes, succeed as students, and grow as leaders.

Cooking up Connection is a food-based youth development program that helps young people in York develop their social and emotional learning skills. Through the culinary arts, we empower them with the tools to become leaders in their homes, schools, and communities. The program culminates in a youth-led experience called the Belonging Banquet, where young chefs share their skills, stories, and food with families and the wider York community.

The CCE offers a variety of faculty-led cohorts supporting local nonprofit professionals on topics including grant writing, digital marketing, and program evaluation. Topics are derived from local nonprofit leaders themselves, primarily when we connect during CCE grant coaching appointments and through conversation facilitated by The York County Community Foundation's Nonprofit Collaborative during peer to peer meetups. These cohorts are part of a wider web of high-impact partnerships between York College and York County non-profits, industry, and municipalities that align student experiential learning needs and faculty/staff expertise with regional community demands.
