Enriching the lives of adults through educational, cultural, intergenerational, and social opportunities

Our Lifelong Learning Initiative will provide accessible, intergenerational, educational, and social experiences for mature adults. These experiences enrich members’ intellectual, cultural, and social lives in a community-focused, member-driven environment.

This new effort is made possible through generous support and partnership from the York County Community Foundation’s Embracing Aging Initiative.

About our Program

Our Mission:

The York College Lifelong Learning Initiative (YC-LLI) is a vibrant, member-driven community that creates opportunities for lifelong learning, intergenerational engagement, service, and connection. Through the active involvement of York College leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners, YC-LLI cultivates a welcoming environment where adults can share their knowledge, explore new ideas, and contribute meaningfully to the greater York community.

Our Vision:

YC-LLI aspires to be a transformational lifelong learning community in York County, where adults come together to learn, serve, and connect across generations. Through meaningful partnerships with York College faculty, students, and community organizations, we support York College's Center for Community Engagement mission to serve as a bridge between the College and the surrounding community. By fostering intellectual curiosity, civic engagement, and lifelong discovery, we strengthen both individual lives and the greater York community.

What We Do:

The YC-LLI enriches the lives of adults through educational, cultural, intergenerational, and social opportunities that connect participants to the vibrant York College campus and student body. It will provide accessible lifelong learning, education, and social opportunities, as well as volunteer experiences, for mature adults, enriching their intellectual, cultural, and social lives in a community-focused, member-driven environment.

Our Partnerships:

Our program is supported by York College of Pennsylvania (YCP), The York County Community Foundation (YCCF)’s Embracing Aging Initiative, and the time and talents of dedicated volunteers.

“It is a privilege to lead this new chapter in York College’s community engagement, positioning itself as a permanent home for curious adults. This Lifelong Learning Initiative will prioritize the voices of our members and volunteers, value curricular autonomy and organizational agility, celebrate our local connection, and embrace the College as a vital partner in our initiative’s intellectual, social, and cultural growth. ”
