Five Spartan student-athletes were honored during the Spring 2024 season for their distinguished athletic and academic success.
Women’s Lacrosse senior Jen Campbell received the Jack Jaquet Fighting Heart Award for displaying uncommon devotion and persevering through extraordinary circumstances throughout her career. Women’s Lacrosse graduate student Bella Garabo was named the outstanding senior female athlete (Georgia Heathcote Stallman Award), and senior thrower Andrew Mott was tabbed the outstanding senior male athlete (Daniel J. Klinedinst Award). Additionally, Women’s Lacrosse senior Madison Kurland and Men’s Soccer senior Luke Nall earned the William DeMeester Academic Awards, which recognize the female and male four-year student-athletes who have the highest cumulative GPA for their careers.
Women’s Lacrosse goalie Bella Garabo was named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Goalie of the Year for the second consecutive season. She finished the 2024 campaign with a record of 14-7, starting in all 21 games for the Green and White. Garabo played 1,048:17 in net as she registered an 8.53 goals-against average with a .513 save percentage, and 157 stops for the year. Garabo owns a litany of postseason awards, which include being a two-time national goalie of the year, a two-time IWLCA All-American, a three-time IWLCA All-Region honoree, a three-time MAC All-Commonwealth pick, and a two-time MAC Commonwealth Goalie of the Year.
Senior thrower Andrew Mott capped his career with a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He earned first-team All-America status in the discus, placing seventh with a top throw of 51.06m (167' 6"), and second-team honors in the shot put, finishing ninth with a top throw of 16.39m (53' 9.25"). Mott holds both the indoor and outdoor school records for the shot put, as well as the discus record. He also holds the overall discus record for the Middle Atlantic Conference with a distance of 43.42m.
