York College Expands Summer Academy to Include Academic and Athletic Camps for Middle and High School Students

New Summer Programs Provide Hands-On Learning in Technology, Arts, Health Sciences, Leadership, and Athletics

York College of Pennsylvania is expanding summer opportunities for students with the launch of the YCP Summer Academy, a multifaceted program designed to engage middle and high schoolers in dynamic, hands-on learning experiences. The Academy now features three distinct programs—Spartan Explore, Spartan Prep, and Spartan Sport—each tailored to provide students with valuable educational and athletic experiences.

Recognizing a shortage of summer programs for older students, York College developed the Academy to help bridge the gap, offering enriching opportunities that keep students engaged while easing the burden on parents searching for meaningful summer care options.

"The YCP Summer Academy reflects our dedication to providing engaging, educational experiences that inspire the next generation of learners."

Spartan Explore (Middle School) – June 9 to August 8

This nine-week, full-day camp allows middle schoolers (grades 6-8) to explore subjects like robotics, esports, creative writing, self-defense, and more. Each week, students can choose from up to two unique camp offerings designed to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Spartan Prep (High School) – Select Weeks in June and July

High school students (grades 9-12) can participate in immersive half-day programs led by York College faculty and industry professionals. Course offerings include Music Industry, Financial Investment, Nursing and Health Professions Bootcamp, Esports, Creative Writing, Outdoor Adventure, and more—giving students a chance to explore potential career paths in a hands-on learning environment.

Spartan Sport – Various Camps Throughout Summer

Open to students of all ages, Spartan Sport provides specialized skill-building, teamwork, and athletic development camps. Led by York College’s expert coaches, these camps offer focused instruction in various sports, helping young athletes refine their skills and reach their full potential.

"Our goal with YCP Summer Academy is to provide students with enriching, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity and personal growth," said Paul Saikia, Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation. "We are excited to welcome students to our campus this summer for an unforgettable experience."

Registration & Pricing

• Spartan Explore: $385 per week plus fees ($308 for four-day camps). Lunch included.
• Spartan Prep: $350 per week plus fees.
• Spartan Sport: Costs vary by program.
• Discounts are available for siblings and employees of York College and York Country Day School.

Registration opens February 14, 2025, and spots are limited.
